Sick
So I am home sick today. I feel terrible and would normally have just got up and went to school anyway, but I was running a fever, and figured I didn't need to get 26 kids sick too. I have not stayed home sick in forever, I hate it! The weather is supposed to be wonderful all weekend, Bode is going to my parents and my best friend is having a birthday party, not great timing. Oh well, I've been resting all day and plan to do the same tonight, so hopefully I will be feeling much better soon. I am a very needy sick person and usually the only one that ever feels sorry for me is my mom. If I do not feel better, at least I know Bode will be having fun away from my germs.
Trick or Treat!
I love Halloween! I don't really know why, but ever since I was a kid, I loved getting dressed up and trick or treating. My mom was pretty handy, so she would usually whip up costumes for us. I remember being Raggidy Anne, a witch, a cowgirl, a clown and a pumpkin. We got to trick or treat at school. We always carved pumpkins at my grandparents house. It was just fun!
We carved pumpkins on Sunday. We went trick or treating last night (I know, Des Moines is so weird about that!) and although I bought Bode a costume, last night on our way home he said "I love my costume!" so that was enough for me! His daycare is having a Halloween party today and get to wear their costumes again. He has on his Halloween shirt and socks (thanks Nana). Bode and Becky are going to Grandma and Grandpa's this weekend and I'm sure my mom will have something special to do with them.
So I think this may turn into one of Bode's favorite holidays too!

Still here!
Okay, it really does not seem like that long since I last posted. I have been so wrapped in completing my work sample for student teaching, that the idea of getting on the computer for "fun", has not even appealed to me. But it is done and turned in! I am into week 2 at my 2nd student teaching placement. I can't believe how fast things are going. Stew's new job is going well. Bode seems to be adjusting well to full time daycare. We are all getting used to things being a little different.
We went to Spencer last weekend. We have our pumpkins ready to carve and Bode's costume. We will take him trick-or-treating, he has a Halloween party at Gloria's and then he and Becky are staying that weekend at my parents, so they will get to dress up there too. He's pretty excited. Things are going well. I'll try to get some pics posted too. It is hard to make time to be at the computer when I am not sitting in front of one for 8 hours a day...Thank goodness!

Apple picking in Iowa!

It was a sunny warm day on saturday october 11th.
Bode and Landon were on the edge of there seats.
Melissa and Brenda were chatting up a storm.
John and Stew were enjoying the scenery and listening to Edwin Mccain.
We were all on our way to Berry Patch farms for some apple picking.
And some raspberry picking and some pumpkin picking.
The day couldn't have been nicer and we got a hayrack ride.
Bode and Landon were screaming like little girls.
Oh the joys of best friends!

Out of my control
I am usually not one to stress. That is kind of Stew's role in our family. He worries about things and I just go with the flow. I really do believe that things happen for a reason and to worry about it does not change the outcome. I have, however, let my worries get the best of me lately. I am student teaching and loving it, but after I am done there are so many uncertainties. Will I get a position right away, will I sub, if I sub will I get job for the next year, what district, what grade, what will I do this summer? A lot of things out of my control right now. I think that is what is getting the best of me.
Time Flys
I am in my last week of my frist student teaching placement. My last day in 2nd grade is Wednesday and then I start in 5th grade on Thursday. I can't beleive how fast this is going!
