He loves it!

The project I worked on this weekend was the sun porch. I cleaned it, painted it, put new carpet in and hung mini blinds. It was very dark and dreary and now it is bright and clean it looks so good. I don't have pics yet, but I will have to get some and post, it is pretty amazing tansformation. Thanks to Amanda for helping paint and watching Bode so I could run errands and Jennie for helping me hang the mini blinds.
Stew was surprised and really like what we did. Most of all I think he is just glad he didn't have to do it!

Broke the news

We talked about not really telling Bode we were going to Florida because we thought he'd want to come. However, last night he overheard me talking about it...
Bode: When are we going to Florida mommy?
Me: Well just daddy and I are going this time. It might be kind of boring with just us so you get to stay in Muscatine with Cassie and Nana.
Bode: Oh, where will I sleep?
Me: You can sleep in your room at Nana and Papa's or in Briggs room.
(long pause)
Bode: I sleep in my room at Nana's.

That was the end of it. Kids are funny!

Weekend project

Stew is in Minnesota for the weekend and it's just me and Bode. I have been going back and forth on what we should do this weekend. Maybe go to Muscatine or Spencer. Instead we have decided to stay home and tackle a project as a surprise for Stew's birthday. No details, as he may be checking this from MN, but I will post pics when I'm all done.

Last minute trip!

We had plans to go to the Ozarks with another couple and had a free place to stay. It fell through and we have been thinking about what to do instead. With gas prices, hotel and going out to eat, we decided that we'd spend almost as much money if we just went Florida, so we are going to! The house is empty that weekend, tickets are reasonable, if we can still get them tonight. We also talked about bringing Bode, but decided to stay with our plan to have him go to Muscatine. It's a short trip and it's another plane ticket. We are unsure if anyone else is coming with us, we mentioned it to a few other couples. Short notice may make it difficult, but even if we go by ourselves, we are ready to relax!

I am done!

Not entirely, but I has my last class yesterday! I still have student teaching, a test to get my license, a test to get my Social Studies endorsment and a reading practicum, but I am so close! That actually sounds like a lot still, but I am so happy to be done with classes!

Buddies

Huge day!

Not really, but we had a life altering event...Bode went poop on the big boy potty!!!!! This is the first time he's done this, ever! He has been working on the potty training for almost 2 months now and always asked for a diaper to poop. We have indulged him because I know so many kids that get constipated be cause they will just not go on the potty, scared or some other reason. So a week ago we took him to Target and told him he could have anything he wanted as a "pooping present" he picked out a $3 Scooby Doo puzzle (yes!) and we told him he could have it as soon as he went poop on the big boy potty. I am sorry, but we HAVE reached the point of bribery! This morning he asked for a diaper and asked if he thought he could go on the potty. After a little coxing he tried, and didn't. About an hour later he said he wanted his new puzzle, I told him as soon as he went poop on the potty he could have and he did! I hope this is something that comes as well as the rest of it has.

You have something so special about you that can melt any heart. You are quick with a smile and wear your heart on your sleeve. You can be "fighting" and so tough one minute and cuddling with us the next. You have a unique spirit and contagious smile. Ever year you continue to grow and amaze us. You are an amazing boy and we are proud to be your parents. We love you so much buddy!

Wonderful weekend!

We had such a fun weekend! We celebrated the 4th and Bode and Brigg's birthdays and it was so much fun. We got to spend time with both our families, get stuffed with amazing food, Stew managed to play a couple rounds of golf, I went to my grandma's (haven't been there forever) and Bode fell in love with baseball, thanks to Brigg! Many thanks to my parents and the Burbacks for hosting us this weekend.

**My grandma gave me some old pics, the ones where I am 3 look EXACTLY like Bode. I would show him the picture, ask who it was and he'd say "Bode".

Off for the weekend

I'm working today, but then we are off for the weekend. We are going to Spencer and Storm Lake for the weekend. We will get to see not only my family, but Stew's as well. We'll also be celebrating Brigg and Bode's birthdays a little early. I can't beleive Bode is going to be 3 next week! I will try to post pics when we get back on Sunday. I have been having a little trouble taking good pictures and getting them posted. Stew hasn't, so it just must be me.
